Mansfield, OH, June 19, 2007 - Carousel Works delivered two new hand-carved, wooden, zoo-themed carousels to Binder Park Zoo and Kansas City Zoo. Both zoos had their carousel grand opening on the same day - May 26, 2007.

The Kansas City Zoo, located in Kansas City, MO, placed their new 42’ Carousel near the zoo entrance for their patrons to enjoy. The Carousel hosts thirty-six (36) figures including a wide variety of either endangered animals or animals located at the zoo including, a Rhino, Hippo, Chimpanzee, Cheetah, Koala and Poison Dart Frog. This Carousel also includes local flavor by including a University of Missouri Tiger, a University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroo, and a Kansas State University Wildcat, and the University of Kansas Jayhawk logos are placed on a blanket and shield on a gray carousel horse. A lion features a Kansas City Royals logo since the Royals team mascot, Sluggerrr, is a lion.

The Binda Conservation Carousel is located at the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, MI. They placed their one-of-a-kind 42’carousel in a popular area among visitors, along the Avenue of Flags. The Binda Conservation Carousel hosts three rings of animals totaling thirty-six (36) figures that include a Lady Bug, Snow Leopard, Impala, Cheetah, Kangaroo, Praying Mantis and two new figures created just for their carousel – a Baby Giraffe and a Colobus Monkey. The Binda Conservation Carousel also highlighted local universities by including a Western Michigan University Bucking Bronco, Michigan State Spartan Horse, and a horse with a Wolverine on the back of the saddle to showcase the University of Michigan Wolverines.

Both carousels also feature two (2) chariots that are wheelchair accessible and include exquisite detailing added to the carousel’s “center surround,” which feature one-of-a- kind, original hand-painted murals highlighting animals native to all seven continents. Surrounding the carousel are additional themed paintings of animals in their natural habitats, colorful crests, warm glowing wooden floors, traditional brass poles, merriment music and accessory trims – all meticulously woven together to create a stunning whirl of animals.
